The Fontainebleau

The Fontainebleau Hotel and Resort is one of the most historically and architecturally significant hotels on Miami Beach. When the famous hotel first opened the doors, it stood as a monument to modern design and architecture. The Fontainebleau was the first of many masterpieces the legendary Morris Lapidus would create. Crystal chandeliers, circular ceilings and a staircase to nowhere adorned the lobby, all signatures of Lapidus. His work was said to have the appearance of a movie set.

In fact, real movie stars were commonly found amongst the Fontainebleau glitterati. Elvis, Frank Sinatra and the Rat Pack were all drawn there. For decades, Fontainebleau reigned as the Crown Jewel in Miami Beach. Never since has there been another as aesthetically forward-thinking as the revered Fontainebleau.
