What do red carpet affairs, professional sports teams, carnivals, and popular movies have in common? They are all among the classic themes seen at Bar and Bat Mitzvah coming of age celebrations. Known for being extravagant in nature, these events typically cater to the party-hosts favorite interests and activities. At the ripe young age of thirteen, it is rare to find a young person dedicating his or her entire party to others. For one such young man however, this was exactly the case.
Matthew, a recent Bar Mitzvahed young man we had the pleasure of working with, chose to give back on his day of celebration. Forgoing the opportunity to theme his party around a favorite NFL team or other cherished activity, Matthew instead chose to theme his Bar Mitzvah celebration around charity. The glow of the room on his big day was no match for Matthew’s glowing and giving spirit. With twelve charities in all, ranging from the Chesed Foundation, that rescues and finds homes for unwanted animals, to Smile Train, dedicated to performing surgeries that correct cleft pallets, a wide assortment of people were touched by his, and his guests, overwhelming generosity.
